We invite you to join us on a sacred journey of ancestral knowledge in the most spiritual place in all of Cusco, the Village of Q’eros. During the meeting we will stay with one of the local families of Q’eros. With the family, we will conduct various sacred ceremonies with offerings dedicated to Pachamama (Mother Earth). This meeting is not only a physical adventure to one of the most remote and sacred communities in Peru but, also a spiritual journey providing a deeper connection with the self and the cosmic energies around you.

Village of Q’eros

Located Northeast of Cusco in the province of Paucartambo, the Village of Q’eros is one of the most unique and culturally important villages in the entire country. Believed to be the direct descendants of the Inca, having survived the Spanish conquest. The village of Q’eros is in such a remote area it’s believed they had no outside visitors until 1955. Being so close to the traditions and customs of the Incan empire, Peru’s minister of culture has called the Q’eros “a national, living cultural heritage.”

Interestingly the Q’ero people do not follow any religion and there are actually no “shamans” among them. Their spiritual leaders are called “Paqos” and are closer to mystics rather shamans. The main difference being that shamans enter a trance induced by either a medicinal plant, dancing, or through song, where as Paqos don´t enter any type of trance. Instead of having an established dogma the Qéro people worship Pachamama “the cosmic Mother” or “Mother Earth” and “apus” the various mountain spirits. The main philosophy and way of life among the Q’ero is called “Ayni” which is a philosophy of giving and receiving. Anyi is practiced in all walks of life, between community members, with nature, and the spirit world.

Services Included

Being in such a remote location with little to no Spanish or outside influence Q’eros has gone largely unchanged for thousands of years. This multi-day trip offers a unique opportunity to live in a culture that’s been otherwise long forgotten. You’ll have the privilege of learning the ceremonies and customs of the Inca taught to you directly by their sons and daughters.
